Computer virus: Need some big help... Computer is fucked!!!

I opened an email last night, overlooked who it was, thought it was someone else (my virus scan didn't even pick it up). Downloaded the file, and unzipped it. My computer started to act up, so i shut it down for the night. Now this morning, over half of my files have been replaced with winzip files. I ran another virus scan and it found nothing. I have windows XP and it is only letting me restore my computer to 2 hours ago today. I only have some personal files on disk. I lost a lot of important material/files, and not sure if i can restore them. Please help, i am so fucking pissed and lost!!!

my internet and many programs do not work b/c they have been replaced by winzip files, so i am on my friends computer...

Please help me out.

i can't open a website and unzipping a file does nothing. some have been changed to notepad doc. too. Looks like i have no option but to reformat and start new.

Anyways, it was downloaded and caught by Virus Scan, but apparently it didn't catch all of it. Some of it got thru. I did finally manage to get it solved, but it was tricky. I'd never seen one that tricky before.
Don't really know where I'm going with this story so I'll just go ahead and end it now. .. .. ... ... .. . ..okay, NOW.
