What is a Mobile AMD Sempron™ 3500+

what is a AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50

are those slower than pentiums or faster or what?

AMD Turion is faster than any of Intel's chips

so if I had my choice between those processors and an duo core pentium which would be the fastest?

I vote for whichever one voids you of internet access. :)

depends on the application you are using it for..

I use pent duo core because i can crack passwords very quickly..

amd is preferable (has shown in bench tests) to be better at handling larger chunks of data.. images..

but.. i'm not aware of any software yet that uses all of the processing capacity of these processors in a home setting..

cad software can benefit, as well as some video equipment, editing software.. but it depends on what you want to do with it..

so which of these should I get?

I do play some online games ocassionaly cuz I'm a nerd

which will handle them the best?

Spywizard, high-end FPS shooters seem to do better with the AMD processors just because of thier handling of graphics subroutines, they benchmark considerably better than the intels using the same video hardware. This could also be chipset limitations though, as AMD and Intel down't use common interfacing hardware.

sounds like a foreign language to me :worried:

like huh???

you should of seen me trying to buy one! That was funny!
I knew I wanted a cd burner though..that's bout it. No telling what I have and don't have.

digger pwnage is the best pwnage.

btw. I was a AMD fanboi.

then got my hands on a magazine stating the wonders of the core duo chips... so decided to give them a try... promptly put together a PC with a single E6300 1.86Ghz CoreDuo

and procedeed to overclock it to 3.02 Ghz with nothing else than a bit of trying, it's running stable at that speed and it rocks (this post wetted jh1 panties for sure)

omgwtfbbq, you'd have to be pretty lame to miss on that boat

so the AMD isn't related to intel? hrmm i thought they were..

so these are basically like an athelon (sp*) and a pentium processor w/ different brand name?

Related in that they both work in PC's but they have to use different associated hardware to achieve that. That's why they don't share sockets, so some idiot doesn't blow up their new chip by placing it in an incompatible board.

I'm sure that's what i said..

anywho..

If you are doing online gaming, the connection speed is more important, and in the application you are discussing...

any hardware that is currently on the market will get what you want done..

if you go to vista as the os you will need the duo core.. in Intel

a gammer box will have a liquid cooled system and AMD as over clocking is easier in most of those chip sets..

well let me link you to the system I was looking at and see if you think it's any good or shit.. it's around the price i wanna spend

damnit the special went away yesterday..

where can i find a decently priced desktop .. doesn't need to be top of line jsut good

AMD used to be an Intel clone but Intel quit sharing technology so AMD had to develop their own. Problem was their new stuff kicked Intel's ass so Intel has been desperately trying to catch up.

Intel's newest processor is about par with AMD's technology that is about 3 yrs old. Plus AMD bought ATI last year and that is the best graphic chipset in the business so with both pieces together, you should still be better off with AMD.
