my internet keeps timing out and the activity light on the modem goes out. then other times all the lights on the modem are on , but still no internet. i have to unplug the power from the modem , then plug it back in to get it to work. sometimes it works for a couple days sometimes it only works for a couple of seconds. is this an ISP problem or is there something i can do on my end to try and fix this.

shut down the modem for a atleast 10 minutes....and also Id call the calbe CO..they offer free tech support and would be able to clear up if this is their issure

you might need a new modem.
your cable company will probably give you an exchange, although it depends on who it is of course. in order to do that, you'll have to call tech support and let them run through all the problem solving things first, so set aside an hour to call.

in the meantime, power everything off for 20 minutes, and then power it all back up after checking that all your connections are good.

Why do you always have to do that ....One up me and all....cant just say agreed with Cent...geez

also when you unplug it, remove the coaxil cable and put it back in. Sometimes I have to go that to get it to work again

do you have comcast, they have issues with their DNS servers, hard code in 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 for your DNS server entries
