computer people: need help, gf bought a laptop on ebay

well she was impulsed to buy it cause she wanted one bad....She sent me the description and it has no os and has been fdisk (Formated)

she paid $100 for it...what do you think of it? and will I get it working to a decent running laptop capabilities?

Can't expect much for a 100 bucks.

It won't run a new OS very fast and finding upgrade parts for it will be expensive. Power cords, batteries, etc. I wouldn't try anything newer than win98. It would make a decent spare or Unix computer (no gui) but she'd have been better off spending more for something with a Celeron or Pentium II.

Comp Science, Graphic design, high level math - NO

The os you`ll be installing will definately slow it down. So my suggestion is bypassing the ducted stream of nonuseful data and directly link the command port of the OS. This way you`ll get a good Laptop that works and all is happy.

Don`t forget to install a data switcher in case these old units never really had them to begin with. Remember back then we never saw polynumerical bit transfers or even the high grade sync flashing did`nt come along till after the late 90`s. So just be careful bro.

Bottom line, change the data switcher (about $5) and you`re good to go.

I understand man....Maybe I just got a bit sensitive cause i was upset that I had to inform her that she made a bad decision by buying the computer....and in turn your statement I took as an offensive to her and got defensive.
