Any of you ever tried upgrading your bois?Is that shit safe? What if I fuck up,how do i edit, undo?
I'm trying to toss in a new hard-drive that is too large to be recognized by hp:rolleyes: .It's only a 120,but I was warned it would'nt work.If 120 would'nt work,why do they sell 200's!!!???

i havnt updated my bios in 2 years. It still says I weigh 180lbs :o

it all depends when your mother board was made.

you can fuck everything if you change up your bios, especially an hp opposed to a stand alone mother board. but if you can find out the manufacturer of your mother board and can get an update bios go ahead.

what you should do instead is purchase a new mother board/proccessor combo.

did your harddrive come with an "a drive" disk? that might have a proggy on there to help you partition it to fit.

When you PC first boots hit pause and write down the Bios manufacture and version. Download the newest bios and followthe upgrade instructions .Chances are tehat they will have autility that will do it for you.

I upgraded a few bios's and never had a problem, one timepower went out in the middle of the upgrade qadn I just restarted the upgrade andn everything went fine.

Did you harddrive come wiht a disk, some manufactures provide a disk that has bios add an that will allow you machine to see the whole drive.

I always keep updated with the newest bios. It's a smart idea especially if you're adding a new drive. Also keeps your system runnign smoothly, I have agp 8x and with the newest bios, my games have gone up a solid 20fps... kinks just get worked out better over time

I think resetting the CMOS will revert your BIOS to its default settings if something messes up while upgrading your BIOS.

Nope. You screw up flashing the bios, you are screwed. Mobo won't boot.
