I just downloaded Netscape 8.0

Seems that it wont load certain homepages....like

www.msn.com

and others....my older version of Netscape did not do this.

Thoughts??

K to whomever can help

The older version of NEtscape was fine.....whats the issue with thte new one??

I would like answers on the issue - no suggestions for another browser choice.

Thanks

Netscape was never fine, you probably did not notice the inadequacies, memory binges, and the lack of streamlined functionality because you have not spent enough time with alternative browsers.

Waddle through the settings and see what restrictions you have turned in terms of internet access (forbidden sites, etc); also, see if those sites that fail to load in Nutscrape come up Internet Explorer.

given that you are trying to open a HEAVILY-PROPIETARY-LOADED-PAGE like msn.com, which is more than likely to be crowded with microsoft-specifics bits (lilke asp and and active x). Its possible that is the reason.

Some microsoft-specific pages will simply not load with firefox either.

Let's start with the basic and try to fool msn into believing you are not running a competitors product. Disable HTTP Referrer on netscape, make it report nothing to the page you are opening.

he's cheating on you

I tred all of thopse suggestions...

Even the Firefox one as that is what I am running now

I just downloaded and installed Netscape 8.0. It works fine on most sites but on the MSN site I get a message telling me that it crashed.

After turning off jscript and its ilk. www.msn.com gives me a Visual C++ Debug message that a plugin is falling over.

I reckon that MSoft is deliberately crashing Netscape. Use another browser if you need that site. If you're feeling public-spiritied, you could submit a report to Netscape but it's unlikely that they are unaware.

Same here.....

I dropped Firefox...so far so good.

Bizarre that Net 6.0 didnt crash

Maybe you could grab a copy of the latest Mozilla. It's almost identical to Netscape and over the years, I've flipped back and forth betwen the two. Maybe it'll be immune to whatever this bug is.

I downloaded a version just a bit ago...working really well...seems faster than Net as well

I'm currently preferring Mozilla over Netscape. Your finding this bug will keep it that way for the forseeable future. :)
