When I point my mouse at things like the refresh button, all I get is a blank black box, where you're supposed to get an explanation of what the function of the button is.

No that's not it. When I switch to windows 2000 it works, but won't work on windows 98, it should because the old keyboard did. I can't use 2000 because it has a nasty virus that I or my computer genious friend can't get rid of .
