So a friend burned a bunch of music for me onto a DVD my question is how do I get this music from the DVD to my i-pod?

Does your computer DVD drive read the DVD? Will Itunes import the songs off of it?

If not, can you copy the songs to your hard drive and what format are they in?

Worst case, you need to find a utility to convert from that format to .mp3

They are MP3 and yes I have a DVD play listing to the stuff right now.

copy the songs to your hard drive; import them into your itunes library; make sure there is a check mark next to the ones you want to put on the ipod; then sync the ipod.

Is there a way clear my ipod of all music?

I think you can highlight everything on the remove, rightclick and remove/delete. Do not remove from Itunes library, although even that shouldn't remove it from the hard drive.
