Ok, so my liver biopsy came back clean as a whistle........HIV neg, no hepatitisis, etc.......the only thing that is abnormal are my friggn blood counts. WBC and RBC. Does anyone know WHY these counts could be low.......I've stumped my doc and my hemotologist........HUGE K!

Low RBC / WBC is often put down to some sort of viral infection – hence your recent checks. It could be that whatever is causing this has yet to be detected or isn’t an infection at all… low RBC's can also be diet related. The more important things are the hemoglobin (HGB) and hematocrit (HCT), if they are normal then I believe the low RBC becomes less of an issue. How do you feel? Are you always coming down with cold viruses? Low HGB is often referred to as anemia, have you had your iron levels checked? / What’s your diet like?

This has been going on for close to a year..I think it would have been detected by now........by diet has been pretty restricted for my excessive training.......I do cardio every am and train 6 days a week in the pm.........that coupled with lack of solid sleep is my guess........i'm not anemic, so i'm still unsure........

Haven't we gone over this already???

There are several factors present that directly relate to your blood count results. First, low Testosterone attributes to a decreased production of red blood cells. Testosterone stimulates the production of red blood cells. Second, elevated Cortisol attributes to a decreased production of white blood cells. In addition, androgens antagonize Cortisol which applies in this case as well. Low testosterone can result in elevated Cortisol. This is a basic explanation in regards to these hormonal influences. Training, nutrition and rest also play an significant role to your blood count results. Overtraining, inadequate caloric intake and insufficient rest can have a profound impact on your blood count. This is common when dieting. In conclusion, combine all the previously mentioned factors together and you have the perfect cocktail for impaired RBC and WBC.
