Coming off Keto

MR X I just went off my CKD diet due to a meatabolic slowdown I suppose and it just got harder and harder to stay in ketosis for some reason with no increase in carbs and no change in diet, anyways it was suggested by you to run a simple diet at BMR and slowly upping my carbs by say 20 a week till I reach 150-200 since I am ingesting carbs now is it best to either have them in the morning say a wheat pita with my eggs and ham and also post workout? And also in a sence I am running a CKD at BMR and just upping the carbs each week and decreasing the fat intake? (Substituting fat cal for carb cal?) SO is that OK it just scares me taking in all those cal in just fat and protein.

Anyone else is welcome to make any suggestions please.

Thanks

I'm kind of in the same boat - I do a cyclical low carb/higher fat and protein diet for contest prep, but now I'm in my post-contest mass phase. I debated staying on my diet and just increasing the kcals, but I was getting bored with the same food selections. I decided to increase my carbs a little on a daily basis instead of weekend carb loads. My meals consist of either carbs and protein or fat and protein. I still try not to mix all three macronutrients in one meal. I also eat most the carbs in my earlier meals (I work out in the am), although I've been having light yogurt + protein powder in the evenings before bed.

I'm also sticking with low GI carbs. If I feel the need to eat something high GI, I will, but I really haven't craved sugar. I'm still only eating about 100 grams of carb/day, but I feel great and the poundages are increasing, so I'm not too worried about it.

Yeah I am really trying to make sure not to mix energys thats why I cut out the bacon in my breakfats and substituted a pita pocket with my eggs and ham. I am hoping to get back some of my strength that I lost from running Ketop and maybe some size since I can now take in carbs with my post workout shake\meal. How is the change doing for you?Right now I am trying to stay around 50g carbs ED

I would switch it over to something like a tkd whre you are adding in carbs only before the workout ... just till your body slowly starts getting used to them as an energy source again. Then I'd go on a balanced diet, mixing up your food types a lot so that your body can remember what it's like to have fun :D

I really haven't had problems increasing my carbs, but remember, I finished a comp and also ate anything I felt like eating for 2 weeks before I went back to a structured diet. I'm sure that made the transition easier.

I have to admit though, I still prefer my fat and protein meals over the protein and carb meals. When you're eating clean, it's more fun to have a little olive oil and turkey sausage with my eggs than oatmeal with my eggs. :-)

I'm going to be coming off ckd pretty soon and runnign a balanced diet with some ALA to compare results. I am still in the process of cutting down too so this should be interesting. I just feel like I overeat too much on ckd without meaning to. =/
