Colorado peeps - A question

Tell me what a cold winter day in like...

How cold is it? When it's really freakin' nipple freezing cold and how often.
What's the snow removal like in real daily life not resort life.

(I totally want to retire there and I'm thinking about buying land so I'm just gathering info)

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

the weather here is crazy. one day it can be snowing, and the next it is in the 70's without a cloud in the sky.

It doesn't get as cold here as people think. I lived in NJ, and it would get far colder there then it did here. However, depending on where you live and the elevation there, things could be much different.

I'm in beautiful Boulder.

Are you thinking of moving there?

I went through there on a cross country trek. Had invitations to stay at peoples houses twice while we were there, which we gladly took them up on. Beautiful country. I'm going back.

what's this 'retire' thing? that's not very Boulder of you.

you have to have a masters in art history, interpretive dance, or poetics and work at a coffee shop to live here.

Retire isn't the right word...

But I would like to move there when I'm done living here but I'd like to get land now so I won't have to worry about it then or I can sell it to put toward something else.

Huge snow..but great weather in terms of temps. The sun feels warmer in Colorado.

The thing it, when it snows in Colorado...it freakin snows.
It's weird how it can be snowing at night in Aspen and 50 degrees intown Denver during the daytime.

Let's see I've lived in CO for 29+ years and it can get nut freezing cold (-30) but not very often usually stays above 0 for most of the winter. Can get well over 100 in the summer but not very often. All in all we have pretty moderate weather but it changes about every five minutes. As far as snow fall it usually doesn't snow too heavy in the Denver area except for a couple times per winter, although 5-10ft in one storm is not unheard of. Typically inside the city snow is cleared within a few hours of falling.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Lake Tahoe that is.

Lake Tahoe is outstanding.

Bah....the winters very rarely offer extreme weather. Maybe a blizzard every 3 years or so. May hit 20 below at 4:00 am but temps below freezing are an oddity during the day time. Very, very rarely hits 100...maybe once every 3 years or so.

High mountains are a different story...of course.

Denver is just another big city with the worst traffic in the nation..for a city its size. Horrible planning by our leaders.

Colorado mountains are just incredible. Bush is trying to sell parts of them to his buddies.

That's right up my alley.
I trust the kayaking is awesome.

Granola - eh - I could do it, I've been living in the boonies for a while now.

COLORADO ROCKS!!!... I usually either stay in Golden (right by the Coors Brewery) or in Denver... however I must say that running will tire your ass out!!!! something to do with the elevation and u must double your water intake !!! Other than that I LOVE COLORADO, I would retire there for sure!!!!

Great BISON meat!!!.... very lean, wish I could get here in NJ...

btw, I know exactly where boulder is!!! cool!!!

I've lived a ton of places and Colorado has a true 4 season year. If you are looking for a summer, spring, fall, and winter.... then Colorado is the place.

Like the above poster said.... sometimes CO is crazy weird. Perfect example is today. It's freaking cold today.... but 2 days ago I got sunburnt. There are times were you can be in shorts and a T-shirt in December and shoveling snow off the driveway in April!!!!! What's nice about the snow here.... you can get 3-6 inches one day... and it can be completely melted in a few days.

Temperatures above 100 are not too common but do happen. The sun is intense. So if you are used to having a golden brown tan.... u ain't going to get it here. Redish tans are more common.

And.... if you are single.... shit.... Denver has been nicknamed Menver. Cock fight everywhere you go. Tons of dudes. Stampede (country dance club) is bout the only place that has a decent ratio.

Yep.... Bisen Meat is fairly cheap and delicious. Make sure you make a trip to "The Fort" it's a wild game eatery with great food.

The Colorado Rockies are almost without peer. Tons of white water and kayaking.

You should visit. :)
