College Help Desperately Needed

First I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this message I do really appreciate any input that you can put into the matter.

Let me give you some background info, I’m an 18 year old college freshman attending a Big 10 University. Which provides benefits but a lot of drawbacks also, my senior year in high school I weighed about 300lbs (35% BF) and I decided that it was about time that I lost the weight. I hit the gym and I hit it hard, followed a CKD diet to the letter and I dropped about 50lbs in the span of 8 months but once I reached college the tables turned.

Being a freshman we are forced to live in the dorm in the dorms and pickup a meal plan. Unfortunately for me this would be my ultimate downfall, in a roughly a semester in a half my eating habits went to absolute shit and I gained back all of the weight I lost and I am now back up to 300lbs. This time I am going to loose the weight and loose it for sure.

I absolutely love the CKD but with my meal plan and what they offer here on campus it is not very plausible to do so I come to you for some assistance. Next week I plan on starting a 2 week on/off of Xena/Clen as that has always yielded excellent results for me. This time my goal is not so much muscle sparing as it is just ripping through this fat as fast as I can. I want to loose the majority of my weight before Christmas of next year and I am willing to go to extreme lengths to do so. I need some tips for anyone who goes to college or attends college as far as what to eat.

For Breakfast here we have a variety of options including bagels, fruits, oatmeal and cereal.

Lunch is always something deep fried or very fattening in general but they also have a “Deli” and assorted fruits.

Dinner is the same crap served during lunch and it also has a Deli and a salad bar open.

For more detailed descriptions as far as my options you can checkout http://projects.hfs.purdue.edu/scripts/FoodMenus.exe (note it’s a webpage not a program file) The food avilable to me is from "Owen Hall"

I need tips in both diet and in workout, should I focus mainly on cardiovascular or should I hit the weights also?

Thanks Again!

I hear ya man...I come almost from the same boat...

In high school I was very active in sports and school, and never had a weight problem...until I got to college. I gained the freshman 30 eating crappy dining hall food, junk food, smoking weed and drinking every weekend. Entering sophomore year, I knew I hated the way I looked and felt, so I changed my diet and habits completely. I dropped from 200 to 175 pounds in about 3 months with general good eating habits and 4-5 days a week of cardio. After the weight came down, then I started a weight-lifting program to put on some muscle.

Now it is senior year and I can honestly say I've never felt or looked better. My advice for you with the dining hall is this: Stick to oatmeal and maybe egg whites or egg beaters in the morning (bagels are junk). For lunch and dinner, get turkey, chicken, tuna or roast beef in those deli sandwiches and load up the veggies (you might want to ask if the meat they are using is low-fat). For snacks, maybe an apple or orange, but if you start lifting a protein shake would be more sutied to your needs. Also, steal as much good food as possible and bring it back to your dorm. I don't know how many times I did that in college. Also, if you have a grocery store near campus, it would suit your needs much more for snacks like a can of tuna, chicken breasts, etc. I could help set you up with a diet plan if you really want one.

I've never used Xena/Clen, but I the only supplement I use for fat-burning is a strict diet...and creatine (to keep strength up). I hope this helps ya...if you need anymore help feel free to hit me back. Peace.

jcregs is right

oatmeal in the morning, and try to get some skim milk in you too. they don't offer eggs there?

lunch and dinner, eat salads and eat the deli meats minus the bread or with whole wheat bread. And always take more than you can eat, that way you can take it back to your dorm for later. Deli meats are usually processed, but it's better than fried food or nothing at all.

And if you're living real cheap, load up on cans of tuna like jcregs said.

if you're gonna do cardio, do it in the morning on an empty stomach, which workds very well if you're doing the CKD.

also once a week treat yourself to a cheat day (don't go over board), it'll actually help with fat loss tricking you body into thinking you're not dieting anymore.

do you have one of little refrigerators? if so, put cottage cheese, flax oil, and chicken in there. Also, get a george forman grill. Steal a blender from home so you can have your whey shakes. Cans of tuna are cheap. You can always bring like 20 chicken breast cooked from home with you for the week too. i am sure your parents will help you with this stuff if you dont have the cash. Chances are they are forking out some funds to send you where you are now anyways.

just because your dicked into buying a meal plan doesnt mean you have to eat that shit if you plan your meals out.

As far as exercise goes, I would try to tack on some muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. On weight training days, weight train first then do some cardio. On none weight training days, do cardio first thing before breakfast.

you can do it. good luck...
