College football people: Questions for you ITT

1) Why are there so many damn bowls? It's like they add 2-4 every couple years.

2) What kind of revenues do these bowls bring in? Are they really cash cows, and hence (1) above?

3) Aren't the Rose and Fiesta bowls big? Why are there really crappy ads on? Shouldn't BIGADVERTISING be paying billions for these ad slots?

Please phrase your responses in such a way that a retard who doesn't even know how to play football would understand. :(

1) Money

2) I believe (but could be wrong) that athletics programs overall lose money if measured directly. What's impossible to measure is the alumni participation that is driven indirectly by the events. That's probably why universities do such ridiculous things in the name of athletics -- booster support.

3) The biggest megabucks companies already have brands to leverage. I'd expect more advertising dollars to be spent by second-tier and wanna-be big companies because they are the ones that need the exposure. The superbowl is really the only exception to this rule.

The National Championship game (Fiesta Bowl this year) will draw the biggest audience, hence the biggest ad revenue
