You're only starting to worry? That must be because you've never attended a US university - you'd be damn terrified if you knew how this shit really worked. It's awful.

Being a good student doesn't matter much anymore, because even if you have a high GPA and are on the Dean's list and whatnot, you still get screwed administratively.

Professors are usually people who were not good enough at what they did so they resorted to teaching it instead, or just didn't have any marketable skills (like one of my professors... teaches impractical math theory bullshit). Those are the worst. They insist that their class is very meaningful and important to your major and demand perfect attendance and hard studying and all that BS.

The sad part is even though the material is taught so poorly the class is so EASY that you'd have to literally TRY to fail. I missed every single day of my Theory of Algorithms class and skimmed all the pertinent material the night before each exam and got a B-. In my idea of a reputable school, I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THAT. Then again, in my idea of a reputable school, such a course would not be taught.

It truly is scary Fonz. Stay away from US education whatever you do. I think my IQ has actually dropped a few points this semester because I had 3 classes that had mandatory attendance as opposed to only 1 last semester.
