collecting unemployment

i was fired at the begining of this month. things are very very gloomy for me right now. however i recieved a letter from unemploymet office saying i will have a hearing to decide if i am eligilable for those checks. what can i say in my favor to help me get aproved to collect?

the reason i got fired was the said was " i was unable to perform job duties"

do you think ill get denied? i live in connecticut by the way

I get unemployeement....I was laid off...anyways I didnt have to do all that. I just went up to the office, did some paper work and in like 2 weeks I got a check. Maybe it's just the difference in sates but that was Arkansas and I know Missouri is the same way. Good luck!

The employer will have to show cause for why you were fired. In most cases this requires complete documentation. Were you given a warning, or any disciplinary steps prior to being fired for the reason they stated?

If not, I would say you have a pretty good chance at getting approved for the unemployment. Many employers don't do a good job of documenting what they perceive to be poor performance and without that documentation it is difficult for them to show cause.

i was just going to say that he didn't have a good chance of getting it.. as he was fired.. it's different if someone gets laid off b/c of cutbacks.. but to get fired for inability to perform job duties is completely different story man..

i'm gonna place my wager in the "no" column..

Present your side of the story. I'm drawing 6 months of unemployment right now. My ex-emplyer fought it, and it took me 5 weeks to win my claim, but I did. Their story didn't add up. The lady making the ruling agreed they it didn't make add up and they were hiding something, so I won. What is really messed up about the entire situation is the fact that my boss told the rest of management a different story about why I was fired that what was presented to me and my direct supervisor in his office the day I was terminated. Of course neither reason was the real reason. It was a personal issue between him and I, and had nothing to do with work performance. I'm thinking of suing him over it. Some current employees are putting a class action suit together, and the one heading it asked me if I wanted in. He actually suspected the real motive behind my termination and even agreed to testify about what he knows, saw and heard.

consumer debt is at an all time high. everyone in the country is too far over extended, and most die still in debt. what happened to the day of buying only what you could afford and saving for the future. could you imagine the power of our country if there was no unemployment. it worked for our fourfathers. (other than the depression)

distanced, in Texas unemployment is paid by your employer. It only comes out of tax dollars when it runs out, you apply for a federal extention and get it. I intend to collect every penny of mine. I look at is a payment for being crapped on. Or I could have just had a homosexual relationship with my boss, got a promotion (like he said I would if I played ball) and kept my job. Personally I think I made the right choice.

I wouldn't have been the first to do so. He usually went for the girls most of the time. It was funny when you would see him flirting with the same one for weeks, then all of the sudden this chick with no managment experience, and few useful skills gets promoted to a nice compfy management position. He did hit on several of the guys, but as far as I know, none took him up on the offer. The dumbass made the mistake of hitting on me in the middle of a meeting with about 25 employees present. So that may be useful for me.

u obviousley know nothing about unemployment.... it's not a tax that citizens pay... only employers themselves pay into it... so no matter who is on unemployment... it doesn't affect you

my company got bought out in june and we all got laid off.. all i had to do was make a phone call and that was it...


every two weeks i make a phone call and do an automated msg thing and then i get two checks in the mail like a week later.

i live in PA and we have up to a yr of unemployment...

sure thats different but you still get unemployment if you get fired

otherwise companies that don't want to pay unemployment would fire people rather than lay them off

its when you quit that you have a hard time getting UI, if you have good reason to quit you can still get it

Depends on the state, whether you're an employee at will or have an employment contract.
