I saw on TV that he received a kidney from a friend (she donated him one of hers). Unfortunately there was a virus lying dormant within her kidney and it never affected her because she was healthy. When he received the kidney transplant, because he was so weak and his immune system was compromised the virus ran rampant and the kidney had to be removed. He's now awaiting another transplant.

It was amusing that even while in the hospital he managed to put on his makeup for the TV shoot. LOL.
