So this was my second week of the Coan-Phillipi routine, once again I was only able to complete two sets of the circuit.
Here are my relevant stats:
Max entered into program- 485
Desired Max- 520
Bodyweight- 200
My real max that I got a few weeks ago is 500 however. So I gave myself some wiggle room
First Impression: Is this an effin crossfit routine? Seriously, I am good shape, an intermediate level lifter, trust me. I feel like I am in a cardio session by the time I get to the circuit portion of the routine. Maybe I am using too much weight, here is what I did an hour ago for an example
Deadlift:
415x2
Speed Deadlift (90 sec rest):
8x3x340
Circuit Portion (90 sex between exercise, 3 min between circuits)
SLDL: 265,265
BB Row: 165,165
Underhand Lat Pull Down: idk
Good Morning: 215, 205
By the time I am done with speed deadflifts I feel like in terms of back work I am beating a dead dog. The circuit seems like so much more volume in addition to the heavy and speed DL, am I using too much weight on these?
Like I feel as if I am doing crossfit and not a strength routine, I am sweating buckets by the end and am breathing heavily.
Another thing, it says 90 sec between exercises on the circuit. I only have access to a single power rack at a time, so I cant take up multiple bars to set up the circuit exercises. So after every set I need to mess with the weights, by the time I get my weights set for the next exercises it has already been 60 seconds. I would hardly call this 60 second rest as moving the 45 plates from a bar on the ground requires some pulling. It is just non stop movement.
I know I sound like a total puss, I just want some opinions on if I am doing this routine right? Or am I supposed to feel this way during the workout? Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
