Close Grip Presses with EZ-Bar

Anyone ever tried this? I was doing skullcrushers and decided to just do some presses with a very narrow grip with the ez-bar. It felt so incredible comfortable on thie shoulders and on the wrists, because you are able to hold your arms at an angle, and put all the stress on the triceps. I think I just found my new favorite tricep exercise!
 
i really like them........... but i quite just becuase i kept hitting my elbow on the 45 plates.

punch - I put 2 plates and a 10 on each side (Making it 225), and had my partner hand it off to me. Brought it down to below my chest, paused, and exploded up. Felt great!
 
Im staying away from close-gips for awhile, I hurt myself two weeks ago doing them to close with too much weight ..lol
 
I've seen a lot of people superset skullcrushers and presses, but I am talking about going very heavy on these presses, upto a max triple, When you do skullcrushers you only have like 100 - 150 lbs on the bar? I am talking about stacking 45's plates on each side and going heavy.

lol thats what I worked up to but it ripped the hell outta my forearms, did them with touching hands. :bawling:
 
Ok, so you did not close grip the same weight you were skulling. It was a seperate bar that was handed to you. My bad. Thought you said you were doing skullcrushers w/ over 225.
 
I like the oly bar, the ez curl bar is angle too much for my wrists, then again my close-grip is about 8-10 inches apart
 
I had the same problem doing it with olympic bar. It would bend my wrists and cause enormous discomfort. That is why I brought up the whole issue of the EZ-bar.
 
Hmm, I may have to give this a shot next time. I've been doing them w/ an olympic bar, and run into all kinds of problems with keeping my wrists straight, where to go down to, keeping both elbows in and all that. See if an EZ bar would make anything easier.

And this allows the triceps to work MORE vs. olympic?
 
I triset (single dumbell) straight arm pullovers, go straight into skull crushers, then end the set with the dumbell on my chest & press till I'm screaming!

I guarantee this will get anyone's tri's moving in short order! Plus, it's easy on my wrists and elbows.
