Close grip benching and chest?

Is it alright to do close grip bench presses for triceps if your chest is still aching from your chest sesion two days before?

I was wondering if it might lead to overtraining?
 
Close grip still works your chest but not as much as standard presses. I usually hit my tri's after my chest.
 
Ive seen some football programs that call for closegrip benching 3x a week. I generally do mine though with reg benches and then inclines. But I powerlift............galaxy
