Cleans!

I hear a lot of talk about Squats, Bench, and Deads - but what about Cleans? Does anyone still do these? What do you think about them?

Also.. what is your favorite kind? Hang clean, Clean and Jerk, Power Clean (others?)?
 
I begin a Oly-lifting session with snatches.

4x5

Move on to cleans; I vary these by performing hang one session and power cleans the next and so on. 4 or 5x5

And throw in some cleans/push press, 3x how many reps I can punch out or just 3x5.

My shoulders/torso and legs have responded with some serious LBM gains. As well as enhancing my other lifts. So, my thoughts on these? Love 'em.

I'm confused, a hang clean is when you start with the weight at your knees and a power clean is when you start with it on the ground right?
 
yeah sorta, but with the Hang cleans you start from the standing positon and dip down to wherever you want to, either mid thigh, above the knee, below the knee, mid shin or just above the floor.

as for the topic, i love cleans. I do full power cleans. I love the explosiveness i get from doing them. You will def. get stronger all around by doing them.

If you have any questions on any of those, there are many here that can ask your questions, not the least of which is CoolCol J (I think he does just about all the variations)...

I do cleans and push press myself....

Used to do power cleans, but since later in college I have grown to like doing them from the hang... At first I hated the hang cause I could not do as much as I could off the floor, but now I love from the hang cause you have to generate a lot more "pop" in a lot less distance...

to the OP-- my favs- cleans, pulls and jerks...Id say about 20 peeps in my gym hit them (& maybe 5 girls)

i used to do hangs, but we get tested on powers, so i need to train doing them, otherwise i would still be doing hangs...

I agree. I was just commenting on the fact that he has already changed it at least 4 times today. Nobody else at elite does that. I did not seriously mean that there is anything wrong with that...
 
love cleans.......... especially since no one else in my gym does them. plus you have to clean a lot of things in strongman, so its manditory.

Oly-lifting in general has tremendous carry-over to strongman.

Taking a month break from strongman training in August so I'll be concentrating on my oly-lifting, that's for sure. Wanna hit some PR's.
