Hi everyone, first post on this forum.
A little bit about myself: I am a 5'8" 24 year old (fairly) slim male. Several years ago, I lifted pretty hard, doing the protein/creatine thing and gained about 20 or 25 lbs of muscle over the course of a couple years. I weighed around 125 lbs at the beginning (freshman year of college), and around 150 at the end (I am a small dude, I know). For a while though, I've been lazy and I haven't really touched weights. Now, I am about the same weight (maybe around 155), but a lot of the muscle has gone and the weight is in my gut. I am by no means fat, but the fat composition of my body has gone up a lot.
So, in the past month or so, I have been hitting the gym and trying to eat better to try to get somewhat close to the level I was at before. My goal now is not to "bulk up" as it was before (using protein shakes and creatine), but instead to just lose the fat that I have accumulated. I would also like to gain a little bit of muscle, but I don't really need to be as big as I was before. So instead of creatine, I was looking into other fat loss supplements. The problem is, there is so much conflicting information out there that I don't know who's right or wrong. I'm just looking for something that would speed up the process for me, especially in the initial stages of me getting back into shape. A nice "kick start" if you will.
Anyways, I've read a lot about CLA, Carnitine, and Yerba Mate. Are these things just a waste of money, or will I actually see some extra results because of taking them? If you had to choose ONE, which one would it be? Also, I am starting to lose my hair, so anything that adds to hair loss is unacceptable to me.
Thanks in advance!
Shawn
