Not to be an asshole but any one fighting over there isn't doing shit for us..But they did make Cheynne and some of the members of the bush administration Billions by taking over that country...Sorry to say this but the woman and men fighting over there(god bless them) are just pawns in the bush's administration money making scheams..

I will support our troops but if they want to have a nice christmas that should be provided by the military. As far as donations! I donate every week!
It's called taxes so fuck this war and the Bush Admin.

Your heart is in the right place though. K for you.

first off u are an asshole. its funny cause u can always tell when someone has no idea what they are talking about. most of these people that join the military have no idea what they are getting into. most are straight out of high school. some just have no other way out of a bad life. to say that the people over there are doing nothing is flat out asinine. our all "volunteer" millitary is keeping guys like u in your safe little office building while they do the dirty work and support our country with action.

I'am an asshole. No big secret there. Leave the country? WTF for? Bush will eventually be out of office after he rapes this country for all it's worth..I never said the troops were doing nothing. I said they're not doing anything for us meaning the people. You also said that the troops are keeping me safe? By doing what? Invading a country we had no business going into.

Can you even say WTF was the reason we invaded Saddam?

Hmm maybe if the military was mandatory I would understand.

if it was mandatory you would have more respect.

who cares why we invaded? you'll never know and neither will i. we did and there is no turning back no matter how much whinning and complaining u do.

the troops are keeping u safe cuase they are volunteers. if we didnt have volunteers i beleive it would be mandatory and cowards like u would have their face in the sand.

the militarys doesnt even acknowlegde the government. i know that sounds crazy but no one ever really talks about it. they are just doing their job. so leave issues between the 2 seperate, on there threads.

mandatory military at this point would just put a bunch of lazy asses in uniform and make us weaker. what are they doing for you jrlex?? well wether they are sitting in their barracks or in ANY other country they are giving u the right that u just expressed and many other. disagree with teh waqr fine thats ur opinion...but to say they do nothing for u is total bullshit. I said it to teh last guy that mad a similar comment.....ur welcome for protecting the right u just expressed. as far as the packages...sending them now is right on the borderline of being too late. I spent last Xmas in Fallujah and we got soo many presents from random people...it was great best xmas ever....socks, candy, talking xmas tree, CDs, color books, playing cards...just random stuff. OH and paying taxes is NOT donating...we pay taxes too so we're paying our own salary? PLUS we get charged for FOOD AND WATER while deployed and only get an extra $250/mth for being shot at. Dont say the tropps dont do shit just cus u dont like someone in office...move of change whos in office.

I despise this line of thought. *I* care. we as a society have a moral obligation to participate in, and influence, the decisions our leaders make on our behalf. Anything less than objective critical analysis of our nations actions and the political/economic/humanitarian machinations that led to their production leaves the political apparatus that guides our nations susceptable to usurpation and subsequent corruption, which is likely what has happened in the case of the iraq war. Detatching your vote from your responsibility as a citizen to observe and criticise (when appropriate) your leaders is fatally shortsighted.

If i were a soldier, i would appreciate my society putting my life at risk with greater discretion, after more deliberation, and with real, proven need, rather than supporting my service (or death) by stifling criticism of my governments policies, because ultimately, though a soldier may independently pay the ultimate price for his/her service, that service is utterly, utterly meaningless unless it served a greater good. so while jrlex may have spoken out of turn, perhaps tactlessly, even perhaps in bad taste, points of view such as his should never be silenced.

also, there are lions sleeping amongst the office workers. they arent as helpless as many military people are wont to imply

I agree that everyone is entitled to speak there minds. However, I did not post this thread for that reason. Yeah I may have posted it a little late for Christmas but those men and women could use things all the time, not just at Christmas.

Some may think that they are over there fighting for nothing, and that may be so... There is no one that can give me reason why they should be punished.

golden I wasnt trying to "silence" his voice just stating I believe his voice was ill directed. and who mentioned anything about the military thinking office workers were helpless?? the military HAS ofice workers those never in harms way never get durty or hungry and never miss home. Every person in our Nation has a job that HELPS this Nation. Start an office workers thread and ill help u priase the ones doing good and bitch at the ones doing bad.

Covergrl80...I agree late or not they will appreciate anything...i was merely stating that if ur goal was to get something to them by christmas it may be too late...mailing times vary from week to week...but on avg while i was there it was 7-10 for a letter and 21-30 for a package. for packages they wait until a conex box can be filled before they ship the box. unlike letters u only have to fill a mail bag before it gets shipped. Please still send it tho...put goofy stuff in it if u can the most retarded things are the most fun...gets ur mind off things. those travel games like connect four and stuff....or paddle ball find your inner dork and run with teh shopping cart haha

i stil rest my case

as far as trying to silence him. that wasnt my intentions. covergrl started a thread on charity for the soldiers serving over seas. he had to open his mouth on bashing our government. thats why i told him to start his own thread on hating bush.

also i agree that there are some tough people out there no doubt...but u understand my generalzation
