i usually have christmas at my house, but my stepmom said she would like to have it at her house this year. They have a huge house, she loves to entertain, and she had house guests plus her sister (love her).

great. it was wonderful not having to shop, AND decorate, and clean the house and prepare a huge meal and run the dishwasher 5 times and serve all day.

we were told to come at 11am. my aunt and uncle and great aunt come from far away, so we like to all spend the whole day together.
we (me, husband, 13 year old daughter, 18 year old son, and 19 year old son) get there SOOO hungry. we assumed, as I always do, that we would have brunch first. or at least bagels or a light snack.

nothing. no food at all till dinner, which was at 5. we were weak with hunger. so my stepmom brings out the food. now, keep in mind, it's my 3 teenagers, a bunch of adults, and my 90 year old great aunt.

my stepmom served SUPER spicy pork roast. even the pieces they said were NOT spicy, were almost inedible. also, there was super spicy stuffing. i couldn't eat it. there was a small bowl of mashed potatoes (not enough for everyone) with super spicy gravy. who spices the gravy??? there was also a small bowl of salad (not enough for everyone) made with truffle oil.
the only thing to drink was either wine, or water.

ok, so most of my family and my great aunt only ate mashed potatoes and a little salad.

Desert comes, and my stepmom had told me not to bring anything, but i brought a cake anyway.
They put out the cake, and my stepmom made bread pudding. it was LOADED with spice. the cake i brought was gone and my kids asked my stepdad if he had any crackers.... they were still hungry. lol.

if we ever go there again, i'm going to bring a lasagna.
