I did one of those hom etest things, it said I had 225/5.9 or thereabouts, on a 6 point scale where 1 is least risky I am appaerntly a 4.

I will go to the doc to get this checked out but what I want to know is how much does genetics matter in this? I ask as my mum's parents both had heart problems, and garndad was quite fit and active, yet he still keeled over at 49....

I guess I need to stay away from pizza for the foreseeable future then...

Genetics is most important! your probaly dispositioned to have high colesterol! A better diet may help, drugs also, but for some you can't fight Mother Nature! Visit your doc, do some research, and decide what therapy will work best for you! The test may be incorrect, but with your family history, I would get a check-up!

Lay off of the Saturated and Hydrogenated Fats....and keep cholesterol under 300mg a day.

Heart disease is what kills the majority of Americans.

Eat lots of fiber as well. if you are having trouble getting it in your diet then go for some sugar-free Metamucil. It will help kkeep your cholesterol down. I have a family history of it as well and the last time I got mine done I was fine, despite the fact that I eat at least 4 eggs a day. Exercise, fiber, and a good diet are key. Plus, i do use anabloics so I was expecting high test results.

most recent research points to an inflammatory factor as
being the best indicator if your high cholesterol levels will
cause you problems or not...

vit e@600-800mg daily is supposed to help...

as well as any anti inflammatory such as vit c...

but youre taking this anyway right???

225 isn't *that* bad. Under 200 is the normal goal (I think 180 is better). Generally, they won't treat with a prescription unless it is over 240, or you can't control via diet (after a 6 month try) and there are other factors.

If you HDL is really high from a lot of exercise, then there is nothing to worry about. It really depends on the HDL/LDL ratio.

I would cut back on the saturated and trans fats though.

thanks folks! Yup I take a multivit already, and eat lots of protein, my saturated fat is taken in in the form of occasional junk food binges (aka cheat days).

i wouldnt hold your breath until you get the doctors result :)

Are you planning on doing tested meets? Or lifting in a drug free fed?

both, my first meet, April 5th, is in the Irish DFPA, and the Scottish PA (affiliated with the IPF) test as well.

Even if they didn't test, I don't really want to take roids anyway, so it's not a problem for me not to take them. I was just explaining to Temple that I'm not heading the BB route.
