Chiro's, Massages and general body work

Ok i've finally had enough of the constant little aches and strains.. after about 4 years of lifting these little aches and pains are getting to me.

What do you do in general for your "body" work? Chiro's and/ or massages?

I just wanted to get a general idea before going out and venturing to my local sports medicine place.

Thanks for any input.

I go to a chiro, massuese, acupuncturist, nutritionist, naturopath, and list keeps on going. Basically I go anyone I think can help, but then again it is free in my case

in general, I'll have a beer :)

but you prob should get a massage, sauna, take a jacuzzi... over going to a chiro-- theyre a rip off.

would you say the chiro would be worth it though...for someone havin to pay for it?

I find massage therapy and chiro invaluable; massage is for anyone, but if you've never been to a chiro, and you have no specific back complaints----don't go.

I suffered a back injury at work about 10 years ago, and started chiro then. Only in the past few years have I been able to taper off the amount of times I see a chiro a year, and I never was comfortable with an upper cervical spine adjustment.

But massage therapy, on the other hand---everyone should go, IMO. *THAT* is money well spent.

I agree with the sauna part. You would be surprised at how much better and more relaxed your body and mind feel after 20 minutes in a sauna. My old gym used to have one but my new one doesn't and I definitely miss it big time.

as much as I would like to say you should go to one every 2 months or so, the reality is if you are paying out of pocket I would suggest it if there is spinal pain that doesn't go away in a few days then see a chiro. I know it is hard to pay so you need to rule out times when they are not needed, most of the time light stretching and massages can help

I have been getting 2-3 myofascial releases and general deep tissue work for the last year and it has definately helped me. Invalueably.

Chiropractic is good to keep your spine in good order. Also hip adjustments.

My chiropractor also does active release, which has been very useful to me.

Self myofascial release and trigger point therapy has done wonders for me as well at very little cost (a book, a tool, and a roller).

Swedish massage and other relaxation techniques are very nice, and while not really a chronic pain solution in general, they are very therapeutic for their wellness and stress relief properties.

As for chiropractor I guess it really much depends on the guy (or woman) you're seeing

some are very skilled and may help you a lot while others are just a ripp off
