Chest help

The times that I go to workout there is only a few elderly people in there walking on treadmills. So when I go to do my chest workout I have no spotter. Can I get the same results from dumbells (Flat, incline, decline) and I also us the smith machine. Same goes with squats but there is atleast a bar to catch me when I go to failure on them. .

DB's can be just as effective.

Don't use the smith, well except for calf raise maybe.

A general rule of thumb you could use is DB's for upper body and BB's for lower body.

[Note this IS just a general rule.]

if you dont want to do bench cause youre alone then db are great and you can also do incline bench in smith...

LOL....

The smith = weak stabilizers which leads to a higher potential of injury when not using the smith. Specifically, rotator cuff problems.
