Chemo and protien supplements

Hi,
My Dad has cancer and is going through chemo(for the last 3 years). He has lost a lot of muscle and energy. He is interested in trying a protien supplement and possibly altering his diet to get more energy.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also I've looked at Anavar but I'm not sure it would do much good.
The new chemo he is on seems to be working well just needs more energy.

Thanks littlebecca

Well I didn't get a reply. My Dad went to his Oncologist today and we will see what he says..........
protein would help for the loss of muscle!!!and would add some benefits for energy because of the bcaa in the the protein but i would let the doc decide what would be best for energy!!!im sure he will prescribe something if it dont counterreact to the chemo!! sorry to here about this about your dad!!wish him a fast recovery!!

Thanks for writing! His appointment is today, I was off a day. He was drinking ensure and he saw my probolic. He comparewd the two and wanted to try it.

I bought him a round we'll see what the doc has to say. What made me think of Anavar was some reading I had done.

Dad said he's on Viagra, isn't that a steroid? I laughed so hard!!! I really love my Dad. He doesn't care for my muscle but he wants to get stronger LOL.

Thanks again littlebecca

Ensure is great for specific issues however I would try to stick with protein shakes personally. The ensure tastes terrible and well it really is not something to look forward to taking.
As for viagra I cannot see it being used in cancer patients or chemo patients. Was he prescribed it a long time ago and just still taking it or is it a recent script?

LOL Yes he was prescibed the viagra a long time ago. He is still using the probolic protien. The viagra came up during a conversation about anabolic steroids with my Dad. Hr thought his viagra might be like Anavar........I still laugh when I think about the conversation! It made for a good memory!!!
