Chemistry study books for making test

G'day all,

While searching the net for tips on making test I stumbled onto this site.
I've found some interesting posts but dont want to try making my own test until I understand what I'm doing.
I know nothing about chemistry, didn't even study it in high school 25 years ago.
Can anyone recommend some textbooks to bring me up to speed so I can understand how to make my own test/steroids. They are hard to come by here in the tropical north of Oz.
The kits are no good as I cant get hold of the hormone powder.
I'm prepared to spend a couple of years studying and can probably set up a small lab if need be.
I am forty years old and suffer from low testosterone level and think I could really benefit from making/using testosterone.

Yeah, saw a doctor, I'm using test cream daily which is supposed to keep me in the normal range. I'd rather be on the high side of normal.
The cream is messy and expensive and the trips to the specialist doctor cost a few hundred dollars.
I'd rather take a weekly injection but test is very controlled here in Oz.
Once I get hold of some injectable test I plan on keeping my doctor informed so he can keep an eye on me.

You are looking to synthesize testosterone? If you want to synthesize it I would suggest using cholesterol as your primary starting material and doing a manganese mediated intramolecular tertiary proton activation on the apical carbon of ring D. The synthesis was done back in the 60's I believe and the molar yield was around 50% but could be nearly 100% considering that the cholesterol could be separated from the product.

I would recommend just buying testosterone powder in bulk from an international supplier, suspending it in Ethanol, carbomer 980, and a bit of sodium hydroxide, and isopropyl myristate to make your own skin cream so you dont have to inject. It works really well and you can avoid injecting entirely using this method. The nice thing too is that if you want to seduce women you can add a bit to some victoria's secret lotion....she wont know why she is getting soo horny.

To the Op, assuming you were in high school 25 years ago, your old enough, just go the HRT route, but more expensive but legal and safer.

get a different doctor if you hate the creams and don't feel it is working well enough. if he isn't listening to your requests then fire him, docs are a dime a dozen.
