Cheapest Insurance company...

Daeo

Well-known member
Shopping for insurance on a 67 firebird. Really don't have the time or patience to call a thousand different companies. What has been the best company(cheapest and most reliable)that everyone has dealt with? I have nationwide right now but don't really want to go with them if I don't have to. The only reason I'm using them is because I'm under my girlfriends policy...

Shit... I'm sorry. I thought you wanted the cheapest straight across the board.

Not the best $ for $.

Ah well... the above companies are cheap as shit.

Daeo,

How old are you, how many other cars are you going to put on the policy, and what state do you live in? Then add the points you have on your license.

You'll probably have to call around due to the differences in the state to state charges. I'll give you an idea of what I USED to pay (before I turned 25 last Sept.).

I own a '96 Ford Explorer Sport bought in 1998. Plus a '98 Ford Mustang Cobra Convertable bought in '98 as well.

At the time I bought the cars I was 22, now I'm 25. My insurance company is Progressive.

The more cars you put on a policy, the older you are, the cheaper it will be. Given the fact that you are looking to buy an older car (a classic I might add) will add to the premium. If you can put it under your girls name, that will lower the premium.

I on Progresive right now. Though I'll tell you last year when I was 24, I paid more than $6,000 for car insurance alone.

I'm 27 years old with no points on my license. I live in SC. I'm accident free also. Been driving for 10 years. My girlfriend is only 23 years old, so I'm not sure if it will be cheaper. I'll have to call around tommorow to see what's up...

Hmmmmm...... No points that's cool. Just remember the more vehicles you have on a policy (no matter what state) the cheaper it will be. So you may want to move your girl to your policy as well.

I don't really know the deal with SC, as I live in NY but given your great driving record you should be able to work something out. Finding and insurance policy is like buying a car or a house....shop around and work a good deal.

Damn right! ;)

I had a 67 and a 68 firebird in high school. Damn I loved those cars. I'm going to find one and restore it.

Unless you have multiple accidents or DUI's, you're getting ripped off. Upstate NY? Rochester area? You got hosed. Progressive is pretty decent, but they sure weren't to you.

I'm in SC also and I use State Farm. They have been the best to deal with and they are pretty reasonable.

I just got a quote from Geico. It will be $2,000 for a year of coverage with them. Not bad. The search continues...

PM me and let me know how much you are paying for that car or about what you are paying. That is a very nice looking car. I want to buy one from a junkyard here in town(it's a '68 convertible and believe it or not it cranks) and restore it to it's original factory condition. Just something for me to do when I am not busy. I love all of these cars from this era. Let em know! Thanks.
