changing rest betwen sets

cmdubs

New member
Last night during my chest workout I shortened the rest between sets to about a minute...I've always rested around 2-3 minutes. I got a good pump..it felt intense..but I was pushing less weight.

I'm hoping to shock the muscles into a little growth, but since I'm pushing less weight/reps due to the shortened rest, not sure if it's a good idea.

Has anybody tryed anything similar?

the DOMS is setting in pretty heavy today, probably try this for the next few weeks and see if I can get the numbers up

My whole training routine has been based around short rest periods for the last 4 months. I generally keep my rest periods to about 30 seconds between sets. And just as you said, you can't normally lift the same poundages you would normally hit for as many reps, but it definitely builds up muscle endurance and stamina. This has proven to be extremely beneficial for me as my lifts are now all heavier than they were and my muscle endurance is better than it has ever been.

no offense, but I really get POd at you guys that hog up the equipment becuase of your 2-3 minute rests bet sets!!! c'mon- one minute is more than enough. Your actually building more strength & muscle densite w/less rest time.
