CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE - That's all I hear coming out of the Obama camp. But they never say what the changes are.
Here is my list of CHANGES I would like to see (not in any particular order):
1. An end to all racial prefererences, I.e. an end to all Affirmative Action
2. Redevelopemt of community based schools, no more 'unified' school districts. I.e. ALL elementary school children should be able to WALK to school.
3. $5/gallon Gas Tax and all the proceeds to build Street Car Systems in cities. (I got lots of ideas here)
4. Diplomacy - time to re-engage the State Department (yes I would talk to Iran)
5. Strong Border Enforcement - Build the Fence, triple the Border Patrol, make the 287(g) Program MANDATORY. Send the 14th Amendment back to the Supremes for re-interpretation, sadly it's time to stop birth-right citizenship. Remove Chain-Immigration provisions. Any city with 'Special Order 40' type rules would have any and all federal funding suspended.
6. Repeal Roe vs Wade - send the decisions back to the states. Let the communities decide.
7. Re-negotiate all the 'Free Trade' agreements. Perot was right on NAFTA.
8. New Tax Laws - every one pays 10% and that's it. You earn $10,000 you pay $1,000. You earn $2,500,000 you pay $250,000. no exceptions, no deductions (except one mortgage per person.)
9. Pursue criminal/civil charges against Bush, Cheney, et al for their prosecution of the war in Iraq. This goes in connection with a troop removal from Iraq.
10. Implement a Massachussets type mandatory health insurance program - NOT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE - rather health insurance for all.
11. Implement a Texas type program for graduating HS seniors where by the top 10% get scholarships to state schools. - a full ride.
12. Balance the Budget - if there is no income to support a spend then the spend doesn't happen.
13. Decriminalize marijuana
Do you folks think these are the SAME CHANGES Obama is talking about? For some reason, I think his ideas for change are not the same as mine.
There really isn't a party or person that thinks like me. There are aspects of Obama's program I like but too much that turns me off. Same is true for McCain.
What I really want is a third party that is fiscally conservative, pro american citizen but socially aware. The current parties are just too too for me. Repubs too far right and Dems too far left.
WHAT TO DO?
