White House event more for media than CEOs? - POLITICO.com

One picture says it all:

And yes, that's Biden trying to fill up a huge block of empty seats.

1. I was wondering how long you were going to take to respond to this item.
2. No one is surprised at nobody showing up to these things. Politics is theater nowadays or maybe it has always been.
3. It's too bad that the Tea Party or the Occupy people couldn't use those seats.
4. RP!

Did he really think CEOs would be lining up to bring jobs back to the land of ridiculous red tape, Obamacare for all, and union bullshit? God, he's stupid.

with the amount of money they are saving by paying employees $3 an hour, having less fees, employee burdens, taxes and such, there is no way in hell they'll just voluntarily come back, it's easy and it's cheap... I think the only way these jobs are coming back is if we force them back, cuts in taxes and such STILL wont bring them back because with one hour of labor here they pay 3 abroad, I'm thinking more around the lines of certain sanctions to outsourcing...

you don't know shit

Lol, looks like one of Newt's press conferences as he runs for president.
The whole premise of this is total bullshit that only one of his retard followers would ever believe. Even without a picture showing this it makes no sense at all.
Telling people insource goes along with his terrible mess of a presidency though I guess.
This is the same guy that Steve Jobs told would be a one term president for this very reason!!!!!!

thats one way, but there are always unintended consequences...

Let's see...

We've already pushed the jobs overseas.

If you even tried to sanction US companies for moving jobs overseas, the answer would be simple: Just re-domicile the company to a country outside the US (faster than we already are).

So what do you do then? Tax their imports back into the US? I think we all know how well trade wars work.

Invitations to events like these are a big deal. That many people deliberately stiffing it sends a crystal-clear message.

Yeah I obviously have no idea how to stop it but damn it there's gotta be a way...

There most definitely is. We have a lot of advantages in the US, including easier logistics, solid IT infrastructure and a variety of services. For example, it's hard to get the products we make in Costa Rica sterilized. Yet here in the US, we can choose gamma, EtO, e-beam or even steam -- and it will most likely be fairly close to the plant.

But then we squander those advantages with taxes, torts and regulation. And the sad thing is, we could probably survive with high levels of two of the three, but we can't survive with all three at their current rates. So for example, our regulations and lawsuits are ridiculous. So if you want them to remain like that, you'll need taxes at ~10% personal/corp and ~0% cap gains. Similarly if you like the 35%/15% tax rates, you'll need massive deregulation.

We're doing this to ourselves and the irony is that it's all in the name of helping the little guy.

But what about callcenters?

Dell, Ford Credit, Motorola, Nokia, Tracfone, Metlife, Metlife dental, Fujitsu, AT&T, Time Warner, Amazon, HP, Bank of America, GE, CapitalOne, MSN, CISCO, all these are abroad, some of those arent really US based but for example when you call Ford credit to make a payment or discuss your loan, when you call CapitalOne or Bank of AMERICA to pay your card or talk about a charge back, you are calling COSTA RICA!?!?! how the hell did this happen? why are these jobs not in the US and most importantly what can we do to bring them back?

We are transitioning customer service to CR as we speak.

Here are the overt problems:

1) Regulation and taxes in the US make employing people very expensive.

2) Our education system is so marginalized that many jobs can now be done as well or better overseas.

3) Global communications and computerization have made it possible to do some jobs anywhere in the world.

And here is the problem taxes create:

It's easier to pick a country whose tax structure you like and setup a full-blown sales company there. You'll have customer service, order entry, returns, etc. etc. Then you recognize the profits in the sales entity and let your US operation become less or non-profitable.

I'll settle for 6,no perks and a plane ticket :qt:

Plane ticket my ass! Be ready to settle for a Lear but start your demands at a G6.

And you need a rider in your employment agreement that clearly states the tail of the jet needs to match the insignia of your favorite cuff links.

'tis the CEO way.

So... do you think Obama is going to loose?

If I was a betting man - and well I am a bit, I would put my karma on him at this years election.

What say you?

b0und (game?)
