Just wondering if I should take this pre or post workout, or both.

Creatine Phosphate + ADP --> ATP + Creatine

You would NOT want to consume Creatine BEFORE exercise cause that would shift the reaction to the left (away from the generation of ATP).

Is this a correct way of thinking? IMO always take creatine post workout, for that reason and a few others (creatine dehydrates, creatine is stable until degraded, so you essentially have it until you lift again, etc)

Umm... I would think it's more like when you workout ATP hydrolyses to ADP + Pi and then creatine-P donates a phosphate group to ADP to produce more ATP, with the leftover creatine being expelled as waste or stored to synthesize more creatine-P when the body is at rest. It doesn't make much sense to expend additional energy to create energy stores (ATP donating phosphate to synthesize creatine-P) when the body is already under stress from exercise (i.e. The reaction is more inclinced to run forward, not reverse.) The whole point of creatine is to supply additional energy so to me it makes the most sense to consume pre-workout.

I'm using MBI's CEE and it says take it both pre and post however once yo uunderstand the way creatine works i think preworkout is fine. Besides I take glutamine and BCAA's post workout.

Take it pre. It will be in bioavailable in your blood-stream during workout incase you need it. If you don't need it during then you will need it after and your body will accept it from the bloodstream. Taking it pre covers both bases, taking post only covers the latter.

How about both?

That's what I did with the Six Start stuff and saw great results. I took two of the caplets right before I worked out and then two after with my post-workout shake. -Jay
