I dont know, I buy the cheapest. Sometimes they dont work in some CD players, but oh well

I buy the cheapest (after checking online they will work with my model of burner and firmware version)

right now, I only buy Memorex... I can get 50 DVDs for some 25€
 
Brand is NOT as important as who ACTUALLY made the disc. Major brands have been outsourcing their optical media from Japan and now Tiawan. If you can get a disc MIJ (Made in Japan) it is a safer bet that it will work in more stand alone players (cd, dvd, xbox, ps).

poke around the net, there are a handful of solid sites with the information you are looking for.
