I have always microwaved my vegetables to save me from making a mess in the kitchen but I will steam them from now on if you say their nutrients are better preserved. That means extra time in the kitchen for me.

Actually steaming doesn't take very long, only 5min or so (depending on how much you are cooking at one time) once you get the water boiling in the steamer. That way they are cooked, but still crisp and retain the nutrients.
