Cat Question....

Lately, I have been finding my Cats claws all over the house. Do they shed & replace them, or should I worry about him? He is getting a bit up there in years. But with as many claws as I have foubnd lying in the carpet, and on the floor, he litterally wouldn't have any left, so that made me think that they do indeed shed and/or replace them.

Anyone know?

Nah, it's normal. It happens when they stretch and their claws get caught in either the rug or the scratching post. It's an old part of the nail that dislodges to allow a newer portion to grow in.

He/she is fine. I find 'em all over my place too.

Thanks. That's a load off!:D I am looking for another Cat, because I am at work alot lately. My cat is VERY particular about people. In other words, he latched onto me, and he hates just about everyone else. I thought I'd get him a pal to bond with, but I'm not sure yet if that will piss him off with jealousy, rather than give him company.

I am looking for a blue-eyed, blue point male Siamese. Either that, or a Chocolate point male(eyes non-specific)

What do you think?

My cat does the same thing -- I find the claws all over too, but she bites hers off. It's the growth thing....

Be prepared for at least a week of hell. The old cat will NOT like having to share his territory with a new kitten, but he'll get used to it in time. They may bond, or they may just form a sort of uneasy truce, that's impossible to predict.

Your cat may never get used to the new one, cats are very fickle and I think it is best if they grow up together. Otherwise you may be party to an endless UFC championship of cats.
My cat was a wild cat who happen to have a broken leg when I found him. He came limping out from under my truck begging for help. I couldn't ignore an animal in need of help and he turned out to be the coolest most mellow, friendly cat I have ever had after I nursed him back to health.
Unfortunately, he didn't come back one night after he was out. Either someone else took him to their kids because he was sooo friendly (the story I like to believe) or the coyotes around here got him. Either way, I am now now a proficient coyote hunter.
I haven't been able to get a new pet yet, still miss Smokey, and not sure I could find another pet like him. Yes call me a wuss, I have a huge heart when it comes to animals, except for those damn, bloodthirsty coyotes

You're no wuss. I'm the same. I have heard that about Coyotes out your way, but maybe he simply found his way back to his original home.

I had a Kitten when I was a kid, whom I really liked alot. He also turned up lost & gone one day. I was about 9 at the time. In High School I started to date this girl, who was friends with some hottie who lived up the road from us when I was a kid. When the girl who I was boning asked this hottie if she knew me, the hottie said.."O YEAH..I stole his Cat about 8 years ago." I was a little pissed at first, but then happy to find out that he found a great home. This girl loved that Cat! Maybe Smokey fell on similar circumstances, eh?

O yeah...and I eventually banged the cat-thieving broad too. The least she owed me, as far as I was concerned. :D

AP.... great story, I rwally do hope the same thing happened to Smokey. But I did go looking for him where I orgianally found him (he was a wild cat, born under the man-camp I stayed at the time) asked everyone in the apartments I live in and no Smokey. I pretty much got to know everyone who lives around here because of that cat, everyone loved him and took care of him.
I would leave my window open so he could go outside when he wanted and I would wake up with him curled up on my back or chest. After work, when i would pull up in my truck he would run up to it and jump inside purring. I know he didn't run away, He had the run of the place, three types of food, endless water and catnip. I really hope someone took him home....
I still go to the pet stores and linger for too long playing with all the animals. There are some cute little rottie and pitbull pups around here for sale...maybe I will get one of em... I still love a cat's attitude when it all comes down though.
