I am constantly munching on cahews (roasted & unsalted) and almonds just to tide me over....I know almonds are good, what about cashews? Good, bad?
 
All nuts are good (I know what you're thinking, you sick weirdo!). Just make sure they're dry roasted, not too much salt. They're not as good almonds...but they're still ok.

I advise sunflower seeds too. 8g protein, 5g carbs, 15g fat per serving.
 
I've recently become addicted to Walnuts, found out they have the highest Omega-3 per nut of anything :)
 
I snack on sunflower seeds all day long....the ones that are still in the shell. Not only are they good for you, they're also a way to defeat the "mental" cravings for food when you shouldn't be eating junkfood....they keep your mouth/mind "occupied" and you can't exactly eat them "too fast" since you have to eat them one at a time.

doesn't that drive you nuts cracking each shell like that? or did you play baseball growing up

I can crack them at a speedy pace. I just throw a handful in my mouth, store them on one side and bring them over to the other side of my mouth on at a time, crack em, eat em, and spit em.

But I usually just buy the ones that are already shelled...alot less messy.
