Cardio

NAS

New member
Hi, I've just joined a gym and am about to embark on some heavy cardio in order to help me get cut and improve me cv endurance.

Is 7/8 am a good time to do cardio?

Also, should I have protein shake before my cardio workout? With Water/Milk?

Would doing cardio for more than an hour be catabolic?

Wht target rate should I be hitting in order to get fitter and burn fat?

Any more tips please?

I'm far from being an expert but I've read tons of article that suggest doing cardio first thing in the morning on a empty stomach is really effective at buring stored body fat. In fact in Bill Phillip's book "Body for Life" he says that cardio on a empty stomach in the morning is 300% more effective than during any other time of the day after eating meals.

never run an empty stomach-- Bill Phillips has already revised that dumb logic.

have a small protein/carb snack about an hr before your cardio-- esp if your running (?) an hr... or your gonna need an energy drink during the workout. Cardio is only catabolic if you go thru your glycogon stores, then your fat stores than your burning muslce... so the whats your bodyfat???

for most peeps (not bodybuilders that have low BF), cardio is not catabolic. Your target heart rate is based on your age & weight... you should be working at about 65-80% of your target.

Whoa running on an empty stomach is actually bad now? I swear to god this is bullshit, I can never fuckin learn how to properly exercise because every 5 minutes there's some new god damn study disputing the previous study from 10 minute ago.

Hell I don't know what I should be doing to get in shape these days.

Edit: this rant is'nt directed at you
