Cardio. Who does it and who doesn't??

I just started doing it again. Haven't done it in months. Going to make it a habit to do non-impact moderate cardio for at least 15-20 minutes 2-3 times a week even now that I am going off my cycle. I feel the moderate amount will help give me energy by improving my cardiovascular fitness and increasing my red blood cell count. Just a moderate amount though as too much cardio can strip away muscle mass. Especially now that I am coming off.

I remember my 175 pound lean as hell h.s. school days. I would run several miles almost every day along with my weight training program. I was smaller but much healthier. Gotta start thinking about my health too. It's possible to be hardcore and healthy at the same time. :)

Well shit let's see...I've done it EVERYDAY now for over a month and before that I was doing it EVERYDAY except for leg day. I'm tired of it...but I can't stop, because I see what it's doing to my body. I'm still making gains too. I do 40-45 min every morning on an empty stomach. Some days are tuff bro, like dragging my ass to the gym, but some days time flys and I enjoy it. I like to push myself and see how much agony I can take- because it always makes me feel good when I accomplished something.

I like cardio. I train in Thai Boxing and Grappling every week 2-3 times a week and get plenty of cardio through them. But i also try to go running atleast once a week. around 3-4 miles.

I Do a lot of Cardio, when i'm training for an upcoming fight.

I hate doing Cardio, but it really feels good after its done. I make a habit of doing it at least 2x a week

Never. Think about it hard fellas, then referrence the amount of Calories burned during a Cardio session, and compare it to the amount of food it takes to equal said amount. It is relatively insignifigant, and vascularity and definition can be had & maintained WAY WAY easier and more efficiently, by eating 5-6, 500-600 caloriie meals 3 hours apart. Why waste the time if you don't need to? Plus I saved a lot of laundry days after I quit doing that shit as well.:D

Gotta have some....

Even if that is so. The real reason is to make sure your heart and lungs get proper exercise.

Yeah, I know if weights are done right, you get the same benefit, but that's leaving too much to chance.

A good cardio routine for at least 20-30 minutes 3 times a week (overall as an average) will do wonders for the old blood pump.

Would you have a routine where you neglected your biceps totally? I don't think so. So why not do something for the ticker?

i normally do a mile run four days a week, its not much but it seems to stop me getting fat and even though its not much its still a lot more than your avergae joe

I hate cardio.... But I do it 2-3 times a week and am trying to increase. I stopped for awhile but being big doesn't mean shit if you have no endurance or run out of breath climbing some steps. Cardio is part of the package. You are not fit if your not doing it. Like a friend of mine used to say. "All show, no go"

Exactly. Finally realizing this now. I know what you're saying Zerxes. I don't need cardio either to get lean but for health purposes, I gotta get into the habit of doing it.

Monday-friday 1hour on empty stomach in the morning. 300mg caffeine before. this is a great way for me to keep very lean even when I am not dieting. The key is to go easy on the carbs in the evenings!

I just started doing it about a month ago 3-4times a week 30min. a pop..i also do abs before my cardio and first thing in the morning

Big news for me guys, i just had Lasek surgery the other day. My eyes are aching :(..but hopefully all and all it will be worth it.

Yeah your right Mike, I too have been slackin with the cardio. Which form of cardio do you preffer. I like walking on an incline at a good pace.

I like to use the Precor. Next year I may do interval training involving sprints with jogging again every now and then once I get my cardiovascular level back up and when I'm in cutting phase.

Congradulations. I'm interested in that. near or far?

Mike, I still do cardio at least 2-3 times per week.I agree with the low impact type as my joints dont hold up like they use to. I have been a swimmer all my life since I was 5 and all through college. I swim at least 1.5 miles for my cardio workout. Does one hell of a fine job on the back and tris as well. Swimming is what I contribute the width of my back is from.

*Fumbling for pencil* so as to remember to start swimming if I want Latamier's back.:p (and my gym has a pool)

IMO swimming definately = a wide back and broad shoulders. Starting at the age of 5 could have something to do with it also, I suppose.

Funny...I started surfing at about age 12 and all the paddling out for years gave me very good tricep development (atleast that's what I attribute it to).

I used to(when I actually did do cardio) swim laps in the Olympic Pool from time to time. It has been said that no other single physical activity(although I would argue that wrestling(grappling) is just as effective) uses as many muscle groups simultaneously as does swimming. Plus, you have the resistance factor with the H20, as well as the obvious cardiovascular benefits. Swimming multiple, consecutive laps is definitely one of the toughest, most effective cardio routines that a person can do. Hardcore for sure Latamier!

I think cardio has a very positive impact on my health in general. When I do it I feel really good, when I don't I definitely don't feel as good. But like Latamier I like the low-impact stuff. My running on pavement days are over. Just not worth the beating my knees and ankles take. My favorite cardio workout is in a boxing gym. 3 rounds of rope, 3 rounds of mits, 3 rounds of double-end bag and 3 rounds of heavy bag or sparring. Now that's a cardio workout. I know, this is pounding on my elbows, wrists and shoulders but this doesn't seem to bother me as much as running. Other than that I like this machine at the 'Y' that looks like something between a x-country skier and jogging. I love that machine.

ROLGOR i am nearsited with astigmatism(spelling?)..so far so good except for the pain..eyes look bloodshot. Vision is really improved, although i'm told that tomorrow morning things should look really fuzzy and my vision will get worse then suddenly get better i'll let you guys know whats up.
