This is a toss up...some reports say you will gain faster fat loss..some say you will not and loose muslce in the process...you'd have to experiment to see what would work for you..however are you eating oats before you cardio or lift..personally i wouldnt consume carbs before i train...i good light protein shake will do the trick..

or a good light protein bar works best also. I usually eat a promax bar and drink a ripped force. Weight train for an hour and cardio for 20-30. I found, personally, that eating a little energy before workout for me, works best.

promax bar 280 cals, 37 carbs
ripped force 90 cals and 23 gs carbs (mostly the sugar which burns off fast during workout).

I'm usually quite hungry by the time I walk through the door at my house 2 hours later .

Try'ed it and got a smashing headache .... may work for others but not in my case , i need at the very least some protien .

If you deside to do the morning workout w/o food, it should be done lightly-around 50% tops max effort. Any more and you will start losing muscle. The idea is to just build up a good sweat. I'm currently doing this with pretty good results. If necessary, do take about 10-15 grams of protein before.

If you want to burn fat (along w/diet) then you should keep your insulin level as low as possible, especially before cardio. The most carbs I would ingest before cardio is a glucose pill or Gatorade. If your looking to maintain intensity and not feel weak, this is the way to go. Both are fast acting and dont hinder fat burning too drastically. Oatmeal is slow to digest and would serve no purpose before cardio. Maybe just weigh you down.

I always do 15 minutes of cardio after weight training. I use the stair master. Is this overkill? I know its only 15 minutes but them stairs kill me. I cant afford to lose any muscle...but need to drop my bf%.

the reason that more fat is burned in the morning,, is because there is no glucogen in the muscles after sleeping, so your body burns fat for energy immediately, it takes approx 20 minutes of cardio to burn the glucogen stores anytime of the day,,, calculate your fat burning zone,, and do your warm up,, 20 minutes in the zone to burn your stored glucogen, and an extra minimum of 20 more minutes.. and you'll be in the same position.

During show prep or a cutting cycle, I always did cardio 1st thing in the morning with just ECA stack. The theory being your glycgeon stores are depleted overnight so your body will use your fat stores for energy during the cardio workout as there is no other source of energy available because you haven't eatten yet.

That 15 minute period is detrimental--not going to KILL you, but it is NOT OPTIMAL, even 15 minutes.

Furthermore, that 15 minutes will do NOTHING for fat loss really anyway, so it's just a waste.

if you're gonna incorporate cardio in to your TRAINING ROUTINE, do it the RIGHT way.

Yes, you got the right idea, but youre doing the wrong exercise, and not going long enough..... That exercise it a bit too intense, and could cause the body enough strain that it will break down muscle for energy.... YOu need to walk on the treadmill at a moderate pace, and go for 30 mins..... This is moderate intensity, so the body will burn fat as its' main energy source.... Since youre doing a moderate intensity, you wanna go for a longer period of time to get optimal fat burning results..... 30mins is a good number...... I'd say try that for a few weeks, and you'll see a difference....

i was at the gym this morning ran for half hour felt good, and then left and had a prtein shake, thnaks for ur help guys, guess i didnt need to eat before i went and did cardio

Bro if you do cardio on a dead empty stomach your going to take muscle away, its just the way it goes, it sucks but thats the body. Take a good amino acid supplement and 5-10 grams of glutamine before am cardio to prevent muscle being lost. Not only is this proven to help burn more fat, but proven to stop muscle from being taken. I always take aminos and glutamine before my 40 min am cardio sessions,,I also do another 40min after my PM training session along with more BCAAs and Glutamine.
