Cardio on a sorta-kinda empty tummy?

I wanted to do AM cardio this morning on an empty tummy, but our kids area doesn't open till NINE AM. Ugh. I tried to hold out, but had a protein shake just to hold me over. I am really starvin' this morning. LOL.

So, even though I know it's called "empty stomach" cardio for a reason... did I completely ruin my fat loss by having a protein shake?
 
Not totally no - the easiest way to explain it is that your body will use the calories from the shake before it will hit the existing fat stores.
 
If you have the shake about 6am, if you do cardio about 9-10ish, you will basically be operating off an empty stomach.
