Cardio-Does it get easier!?!?

I have been hitting cardio everyday, 30 minutes a day, for the last two weeks leading up too my 30TH BDay on the 22nd.

I usually warm up walking then jog @ 6MPH for 20 minutes, walk 3 minutes on incline, jog 3 minutes flat then finish up with walking 4 minutes on incline.

Every time I start, it seems like about 1 minute in I think to myself, "I'm not gonna make it the whole time". It is just miserable! I thought it would be getting easier, but gawd, the whole time I just think about how much this sucks. Don't get me wrong, I have lost inches off my waist while staying at the same weight and I always somehow make it the whole 30 minutes.

I've tried listening to music, thinking of how buff I am, you name it.

I can't imagine going for 45 minutes!! What do you guys do? What kind of cardio can I do? Should I mix it up? What?

Please help!!

No, basically cardio will always suck and it will only get more boring. I stopped doing the step mills and ellipticals about a year ago. Now I just get my cardio through activities like racquetball, volleyball, and basketball. If you keep increasing the weights and build up enough muscle, it will burn away a lot of the fat for you. You may also want to think of switching to Max-OT or HIIT cardio. Those styles of cardio are much more intense, but they are also a much shorter duration.

iPod

Also - take it outside if you can. Treadmills are mind numbing boring and a little bit cheating. Hit the pavement if you can - makes it much better.

Find out where all the local women run. Local trails, boardwalks, beach wherever. The eye candy keeps me motiated and reminds me why I do cardio. Mindless tv in the gym helps me to zone out too.

There is a nice walking trail in town. I just don't get to go there very often and the my gym doesn't have any TVs. All I do is stare at myself in the mirror directly in front of me!

The bikes there suck ass. Maybe I'll try the rowing machine....

i do 20 minutes after my weight training. I just look at women. Or if my wife comes along I talk w her. It isn't bad. Definatly worth it.

if you wanna burn fat and help your heart you'll focus on that instead of how bored you are. nothing comes without a price.

Staionary cardio equipment sucks dick. 10 minutes can last for hours.

Try Watching a music DVD really loudly if your at home.
Or iPods can make it a bit less boring but you allready said this doesnt work.

I get bored easily on stationary cardio equip. I much prefer walking/running/biking outside. However, if it must be done try switching 15 min rowing, 15 min stairmill, 15 min exercise bike or treadmill.

Watch the calories burned per hour and do those machines with the highest readings for the biggest bang for your buck, i.e; rowing and stairmill

multiply the total calories burned by 30%.

subtract this from the total.

thats maybe close to what you are actually burning. thats a huge maybe too.

Try 15 minute HIIT oval sprints. It's too tiring to get boring. Some bodybuilders (e.g., Layne Norton) say it actually helps them with their leg development too

20 minutes of cardio is hardly a warmup...waste of time IMO. The first 10 minutes would constitute a warmup. If you can have a conversation while doing your cardio you must be going pretty easy.

yea either start cycling (not the stationery kind) or start swimming.... or else take up a sport. if you have to rely on stationery equipment, then i'd suggest just 10-15 mins of slow cardio 2x per week and a thing called tabata (google search for it)... which lasts just 4 mins. you can use stationery equipment here or you can use the barbell too the choice is yours. alternatively you can check out the links in the training vault sticky... think complexes.
