CARDIO, BULK and precontest........

I have always been one to keep in cardio during all facets of training, on/off, bulk,cut....for nothing else than sanity. It usually is 20-45minutes, first thing in the am or off days, depending on my goals.

Well, my question now is, I have been keeping it 6x a week as I try to pack on lean mass. It's first thing in the am, before my first meal and really helps to wake up, pump up my appetite, etc because I sit in an office all day. So, I'm walking aroud 3.5-3.7mph, 7.5-8.5 incline for 30 minutes every single morning. The scale is slowly moving up, abs are fading, which makes me nervouse in this sense. I am keeping cardio, but cranked my calories. When I try to sget precontest shredded down the road, am I going to now have to crank up the intensity, move it to 60 minutes a day and do it twice a day if neccessary??? SOmething I dont want to happen. ORRR, will the lowering of my cals come cutting time, lowering of my carbs, allow me to get back to shredded without having to increase cardio? Thoughts?

So keep it....just lower the intensity big time?

I don't think you have to lower the intensity unless it's hurting your workouts. I wouldn't do it for more than 30 minutes if you're trying to put on size.

How is a mix of 3x a week 10.5-11 incline at 3.0-3.2 speed (good glutes and hams) and then 3.5-3.7 at 7.5-8.5 ramp incline 3x a week...1st in the am, for 30 minutes then abs

I have carbs all day...not sure what you are referring to. I am trying to put on mass while keeping in cardio. Albeit mild or semi-mild, but still keeping it in.

The problem with that is that the minute you have carbs your fat burning stops because it illicits an insulin response. The insulin keeps the fat burning stopped as long as it's in your blood. So you do your morning cardio, get your metabolism cooking and then shut off the purpose of the cardio with carbs. If you wait until lunch for carbs then you'll get more fat burning out of the cardio.

disagree, but that is a good theory and one that is also supported by some. Others say the cardio "burn" ends a few minutes after ceased....I do it WHILE BULKING, to ramp up my hunger and keep fat storage down......not to cut at the moment.

Ulter has a good point but dont forget that you must consume carbs to replenish your glycogen stores that you just depleted from the cardio, if you dont it will be eating away amino acids until lunchtime when you have carbs, which in turn will hurt your chances of staying lean in the long run. JK while I am getting ready for a show I keep my cardio almost the same, I do it in the AM and after training in the PM for 45min each on the treadmill at 3.5mph at 3% incline, or the elliptical (SP?) for 30min each time....You dont have to increase your cardio if you dont want, just decrease carbs slowly, I would say cut out no more than 20-40 grams per day, and each ending at about no less than 80 per day and no more than 120 per day, then again I dont know your stats, if your on a cycle or not and age etc etc, that would help alot...

I've used this method to reduce massive amounts of fat from people. People who were in the 300+ club prior to starting it. One guy, 62 years old, is down 55 pounds since April. I'm suggesting it because I've seen the results. I started T-Cake on this and she's down 25 pounds. She came to me when she hit a plateau that lasted a full year. When she made this one little change and added SesaPure/Glucorell she dropped 20 pounds and is still going.

It takes a long time to replenish those stores. Over a day in fact. So the few hours you're going without carbs is no big deal.
