I have recently introduced some cardio three times a week for 25 minutes into my training schedule. I was feeling unfit and frequently breathless so I figured I had better get my heart into shape.
I am currently bulking too, and I have noticed a reduction in my gains. I have compensated for the extra calories the cardio burns by increasing my intake from 5,000 cals to 6,000 on cardio days. I usually expend 450 doing cardio, but I added an extra 1,000 to compensate for the increase in overall metabolism the cardio will cause.
The general rule of thumb is that bulking and cardio should not be done in the same body-building programme. I figure this is because you don't want to expend calories which can be used to bulking. That is why I added the extra 1,000 a day to compensate.
Is there anything other than calorie expenditure that makes cardio bad while bulking? I changed my steroid combinations too which may account for the change in gains (From fina+winny to anadrol+winny).
I am trying to work out the reason so that is why I am asking this question. Can people who know something definite about this please help me out. The cardio + bulking = bad mentality just "because it is" is not the advice I am seeking. Facts only please.
Thanks.
