Carbs in first post-workout meal

How many carbs (g) should you have in your first meal after your post workout shake, when you're cutting? - the clean protein/carb meal

How many carbs are you trying to get in total during the whole day, and how many of those have you had up to that point? After knowing these 2 answers it should be easy to see how to space out your carbs the way you want them. I taper my carbs off through the first 2-3 meals while cutting, so by the last 2-3 meals my carbs are gone except for green veggies. What is your cutting plan?

it really depends on how your own specific body reacts. It also depends on how much muscle you carry. I'd say start at 60 grams and take it from there. I take in about 90 carbs PW.

depends....if i'm hardcore dieting, after my pwo shake, i'll only have veggies and lean protein. if i'm already lean enough, i'll go for a cup of rice or a sweet potatoe (which I round off to 50 gr. of carbs), If I'm trying to add size, I'll eat at least 100 grams of carbs from white potatoes or white rice.

If you are going to nix carbs, doing so around your training is the best way to do so ignorantly.

I concur. If your diet includes carbs at all (and yeah, some don't), you want those carbs centered around your training. The carbs after 6pm or whatever time thing is a myth. Take in those carbs when they will be utilized most efficiently.

advising not to take any carbs post workout is perhaps the most absurd thing i've heard all day. whether bulking or cutting, it is important to replenish glycogen stores by means of an insulin spike from simple carbs. i usually keep the carb:protein ratio at 1:1 when cutting, and 3:1 when bulking.

Savage, this is about the Post Workout Meal, not the shake immediately after training i believe. But you are def. right about the PWO shake, essential to have those carbs bulking or cutting.

doesn't jay cutler mix a coke and crushed ice after a workout, I usually eat some fruit or wheat pasta, something

Who gave me that idea yo ask. Mr Arkansaw who is also my Oklahoma, Who is also a NPC judge, who is also my trainer. Btw im 207 at less than 7% right now. Not trying to build any muscle, just tryin to drop fat. Many competitors ive talked to cut carbs after last workouts. My last carb meal is at 230 pm. I lift at 5 and do cardio immediately after I lift for 1 hour. I go home and have 2 more just protein meals, then its off to bed.

thats fine bro...you are training for a SHOW!!!! Huge difference and you are cutting..........when bulking, it's carbs, carbs carbs.....all the way up to bed!!

Well, to borg's credit, this thread IS about cutting, not bulking.

That being said, there's many ways to skin a cat. I'm sure borg is very happy with his diet, but it's not to say it's the only way to do things.

I'd like to make the argument that let's say one is cutting on 2000 calories/day. Given the same foods and activity, and only changing the timing of the carbs, you are going to get the greatest partitioning effect around your workout. I don't think that can be argued. Nutrient partioning is akin to eating less because you're making better use of what you're giving your body. So, while one could argue that less fat is being burned after the workout if carbs are consumed, a counter-argument would be that you're basically creating a larger daily deficit. And when it all comes down to it, the law of thermodynamics inevitably wins.

Was to him!

ok...on that note...what do you typically consume PRE workout to fuel youself, say in your meal 1-2 hours before bulking and cutting, does it change?
