Carb Depletion..

Xtreme2001

New member
I've been dieting for 2 weeks now, and just this past week I lowered my carbs from 70g to 40g. These carbs come from green veggies, in meals 1 and 2.

I consume 10oz glass of OJ right after my workout with my protein shake, which gives me 40-45g carbs.

How do I know if I should bump the carbs? I feel very lethargic at this point. Is this normal for dropping the carbs so low? Should I be concerned with anything?

I've never dropped my carbs lower than 100g when dieting. This is something new to me.

Personally, I need to go really low carbs to get shredded. Those little bits are very precious. I would never "drink" any of those carbs. You didn't provide enough info to get any solid advice back. Are you dieting for a show? What are your stats? How many weeks out? How much protein & fat?

mabey because your not restoring your muscle glycogen with that postworkout nutrition...only liver glycogen. You can keep your carbs low all through the day and then consume alot after training and not have to worry about kicking your body out of fat burning mode. I would opt for dextrose postworkout at .7 to 1 kg per lb of bodyweight, ditch the OJ. Fructose is a poor choice for replenishing muscle glycogen IMO.
