Dear Customer:
We are sending out this announcement to all those who ordered our pure carao extract last year, or who inquired about it at some time.
CARAO HARVEST BEGUN
We have begun harvesting and extraction operations for the year 2003 harvest, using brand-new stainless steel equipment. Our improved equipment allows us to have better density control and faster low-temperature evaporation of the carao extract.
The wild carao trees we are harvesting have a very sparse production compared to last year, which greatly increases the production labor involved. This has obligated us to make a small price increase: approximately 10% over last year's price.
However, we are offering a special discount for all orders received before we start shipping about March 17-20. We will honor last year's prices for all these pre-shipment orders, which is effectively a 10% discount.
In addition, pre-shipment buyers will have their orders shipped out first: first-come, first-served. This is important, since the first available extract may not be sufficient to keep up with orders. I will make a statement on the website if production does not keep up with the level of orders. To order, visit our site at www.costa-rica-natural.com.
ESTIMATED SHIPMENT DATE
Although we have begun harvesting, the extraction process is very labor-intensive and time-consuming. My current best estimate for first shipments is about March 17-20.

We are making many changes to the website, one of the most important being payment handling. At the time we start shipping (March 17-20 approximately), we plan to switch over to direct, secure credit card payment. Buyers will no longer need to use PayPal. We will also continue to accept personal checks.
CHILDREN'S ANEMIA PROJECT OF COSTA RICA!
We are not ready to make a formal announcement, but very soon (probably by the time we can ship carao extract) we will be passing all retail sales of carao extract over to the Children's Anemia Project of Costa Rica (CAP), a non-profit organization I am helping to found. Our "Carao for Kids" program gave very exciting, inspiring results in treating anemia in children last year, and we see this as a way to greatly expand and formalize this work.
CAP (the Children's Anemia Project of Costa Rica) will continue to offer pure carao extract to the athletic community, and use all profits to combat anemia, principally by donating carao to anemic children throughout the world.
At the time CAP takes over sales of carao, www.costa-rica-natural.com will be transformed into the CAP website, whose URL we will soon announce.
I would like to thank the many people who have sent letters of praise and encouragement. In addition, I would like to thank all our customers around the world. It is the athletic community that has made the Children's Anemia Project of Costa Rica a reality.
