Capt. Kangaroo

Zebo

New member
Dead at age 76....

Alot of you guys wouldn't remember him, Mr. Greenjeans, the rabbit, the moose, ping pong balls, etc.

Bummer.

Regular features on both Captain Kangaroo shows included visits from zoo animals and a torrent of falling ping-pong balls brought on when Mr. Moose asks the Captain a knock-knock joke (the dropping of balls comes along with the punchline - usually "ping pong balls").

Was it just an urban legend that he had AIDS?

Yeah but he was from canada so he probably died of the sars.

There was also the rumor that he was a Marine Corp sniper during the Korean War, or was that Mr Rogers?

That was Mr. Greenjeans. He really was a Marine Corp Sniper.

I would like to point out that many of the recent celebrity deaths have been mentioned in Bloodhound Gang songs in the past.
Including this Kangaroo fellow.

This would imply that the next to go is Rip Taylor.

Thanks to all for pissing on a childhood mammary.

Next I suppose you're going to tell me the Muppets weren't real....

Now, get in my belly!!!!!!

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
So don't tell me I've nothing to do

Never heard of Captain Kangaroo and have no clue who he is, but I remember hearing his name in that song that bruce willis is singing in his car in the movie Pulp Fiction.

I had no idea he was that young. The show started in 1955, he would have been in his late 20s then.

I thought he died a while ago. Like 6 months or a year.

Anyway being a Captain could he have married people? thanks
