Can't take another BORING DAY AT WORK

I like, no LOVE, my job in HR when I ACTUALLY HAVE SOMETHING to do!

I typically have 4 hours of actual work in a 9 hour day, and I am getting REALLY STIR CRAZY!

I have an AWESOME boss who has given me tons of wonderful opportunities and has already taught me a lot in the 8 months I've been here, I have tons of freedom to do what ever I need/want, pretty much endless resources to accomplish what I need to/want to, the commutes fine, the pay is awesome, I have a flexible schedule when I need it, 100% tuition reimbursement to pay for grad school, everyone here is nice...

BUT, I can't take another 4 hours straight of nothing to do!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else ever have this problem????

LOL... try 24 hours of nothing to do... Sure, can hang out with the girlfriend, workout and such... but it'd be nice to WORK, or at least sit somewhere and get paid for it for 8 hours out of the day...

:) Be lucky you have a job. :)

Just be lucky you have a job. I'm also bored at work and feel like tearing my hair out because I can't sit in a office for 8 hours. GRRR

Start sending pics to me and you won't be bored anymore.
:D

I've had the problem too. I eventually started looking for other things to do in the company. I'm an editor and I ended up writing stuff for other editors in my spare time, or just doing my own writing.

But my job is still boring sometimes. Hence the posting.

Start bringing weights to work, just pump out reps all day...like your bored bam hit the floor for 50 pushups, install a bar in your office and bang out some chins...do lunges down the hall, you get the idea...plus you can save money from not haveing to join the gym anymore...

i wish they could make like a room where people just go to sleep when they dont have anything to do. that would be so sweet

I'm drooling at the thought of that :D That would be sooooo awesome!

Yep, exactly my problem. I come in at 8, check work voice mail and e-mail, which is typically nothing of use. By about 8:30, I'm checking personal e-mail and surfing on Elite. Then the rest of my morning consists of checking Elite, reading the newspaper online, and surfing. I go to lunch, come back, hit Elite some more, and try to kill time until 5.

We've had no new projects in 6 months, and probably will not have a project until March. All I have to do right now is piddly stuff like data entry and basic maintenance.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I have a job, I just want my job to be interesting again.

Yep, but you get tuition reimbursement!

I'm jealous...

I know! If I had had this job 2 years ago, I wouldn't be carrying 20,000 in loans for my undergrad degree!! So I feel almost OBLIGATED to continue for my masters.....it's FREE for God's sake!

i hear ya.. my job is boring right now.. my co is in the middle of a merger so i have had nothing to do for months.. right now i do not even have a boss.. i am just sitting around for who now how long just picking up my paychecks every two weeks..:(

I am pretty busy in my job these days, but I had a desk job a few years ago that had many days like the one you described. I also had tuition reimbursement. I started working on my MBA, and had no qualms about studying or doing homework right there at my desk. I figured it was better than goofing off, and it was for my career progression, and work-related. I finished the program in a couple of years.

Also, the many days that I work late and spend overnight in the field compensate for the occasional slow day as far as I'm concerned.

I was paying for my bachelor's as I went, and then I ran out of money. One of my prior employers paid part of my tuition, and then I changed jobs, so now I gotta pay for it myself, and just haven't scraped together the money to continue.

I need to though. Only 27 hours left.

It seems to be the story of my life when it comes to jobs. They always start out really busy, and then slow down. Budget constraints are the main reason now, so I'm hoping it'll pick back up.

When I've had jobs before that were slow, I could study or do homework at work. Now that I'm a manager, I'm expected to do strictly work-related stuff all the time. Yeah, like I want to spend 8 hours entering inventory.

Luckily, I haven't had to work late in a long time.

Trust me, I am so VERY happy that I have a girlfriend... and one that makes my life that much better now.

The job would just complete the cycle... and I would be happy in all aspects of my life. :)

Stick in there Sainty... :)

on a good day i may do 3-4 hours of actual work. When i'm not working I'm drinking protein shakes, posting here and surfing the web. The last thing i want to do is work when i'm at work
