I live by the expression: "Ripped abs are not made in the gym, but in the kitchen." Having a very good, clean diet has not been an easy road for me. It is not like a light switch you can throw on or off. I used to love cheeseburgers and pizza (still do), but I have slowly weaned myself off of eating poor foods for living a bodybuilding lifestyle. Skim milk and no fat mayonaise now tastes "normal" to me. The only sugar I eat is post workout. White flour products are kept to an absolute minimum. Once again, I did not just begin eating this way overnight. It took me many months to slowly adapt my diet to what I wanted my body to look like. Be conscious of everything you eat, count calories, and when you go to the grocery store read labels and simply don't buy bullshit/fattening foods. Eat chicken, fish and lean beef. No condiments either bro. Walk right by the damned potato chips and junk food without a second thought. Get some Mrs. Dash and get used to it. Calculate your Basic Metabolic Rate and stay at or under it while keeping protien maximized.
The fat WILL melt down. One of the best tricks that worked for me in getting the calories down under my BMR was to drink a big glass of cold water when I get hunger pangs. It temporarily fills your gut and your body has to burn colories to heat up the cold water. This will also help you to consume the 1-2 gallons of water a day you should be drinking.
I only do about 30 minutes of cardio every other day. You have to ask yourself: "Do I want the 5 minute satisfaction of eating this sausage pizza, or the life long benefits of a healthy, attractive body?" Be strong, and good luck....you'll get there.
